Father's Day Reflections...

So Father’s Day has come and gone. What was/is your earthly father like?
Maybe this is an easy question for you to answer. Or maybe it brings feelings of grief or frustration or disappointment or even hatred.
Whatever feelings this question brings, I hope the reflection of it can eventually bring you around and point you to your heavenly Father.
Because He is the ultimate Father. And He’s always worth celebrating!
Why so? Well, I'm glad you asked because I would love to give you some Father-like attributes of God! :o)
{And I took the time to link all the verses to BibleGateway NLT version, so you should take the time to check them out!}
  • He loves & cares for you more than you will ever comprehend! (Eph 3:18-19)
  • He loves to GENEROUSLY give. (Luke 12:32 & Matt.7:11)
  • He is PROUD of who you are and who you are becoming! (Zeph. 3:17)
  • He is always thinking about you. ALWAYS. (Psalm139:17-18)
  • He wants to PROTECT you from harm and heartache. (Psalm18:30)
  • And He will HEAL you when you are hurting. (Jer. 3:22)
  • But He will also DISCIPLINE you in order to keep you from further pain. (Hebrews 12:6)
  • He loves to talk WITH (not just listen to) you about anything and everything. (Psalm 27:8)
  • He loves to TEACH you. (Psalm 143:10)
  • He loves child-like faith. Think of a 3 year old running and jumping into her daddy’s arms, 100% confident that he will catch her. (Luke18:16

How has God been a Father to YOU? Leave some comments if you so please! :o)

Come to HOME to reflect on this ultimate Father we have! Then stick around for some worship! (Check out the calendar for when there is live worship if you want.)
While you’re there talking WITH your Father, you could ask Him for a few things…And since we already covered that God LOVES to give to those who ask, here’s a few suggestions of what you could ask for:
  • Ask Him to reveal more of His Father-like attributes to you…and any other attributes as well.
  • Ask Him to reveal and fill the empty holes in your heart that your earthly father left open or that you’re trying to fill with something or person that just can't satisfy.
  • Ask Him to give you a child-like faith that is 100% confident He will catch you when you surrender.
  • If you’re a father, ask Him to help you become an even better father that points your children (& others) right to Him.
  • If you’re a mother, ask Him to strengthen your husband to be that kind of father, and ask Him to strengthen you to walk alongside your husband—supporting him every step of the way.
Regardless of how this past Father's Day was for you, I hope that your next one will be full of joy, celebration, and delighting in your heavenly Father. And that you can thank God for what He taught you through your earthly father--whether that be mostly good or mostly bad.
